The S1 Pro has excellent navigation and mapping, thanks to the internal dToF system. It can maintain the appearance of a low-profile, while offering top-notch object detection. It drives close to walls without hitting them and avoiding steps, and it can also raise its mop when driving over rugs and short-pile carpets. However, it did struggle a little when encountering longer-pile carpets and several large, thick piles of dried-on debris.
The S1 Pro is ready to be used right out of the box, and it requires only a quick mapping run to discover your home. The map will be displayed in the app and you can add or merge rooms as necessary. You can also set virtual boundaries as well as no-go or no-mop zones if there's something you don't want the robot to be able to touch.
